BARK Store

BARK is always looking for volunteers and has opportunities for everyone.  You can pick an opportunity that will take little time or can pick one that may take a little longer and on a continual basis.

To offer to help with one of our volunteer opportunities, please email us at barkemail@yahoogroups.com.

Newsletter-Volunteers will create ideas, write articles, design layout, update mailing list, edit writing, and take pictures for the newsletter. Submit a short pet related article for our monthly newsletter.

Crafts-Make any type of craft, which you enjoy, for BARK to sell at events or online.

Foster Parent-The Foster Care Program offers volunteers an opportunity to take stray, sick or injured animals into their homes and care for them until they are mature or healthy enough to be adopted. BARK is in need of people willing to foster rescued pets until a forever home is found. BARK can only save the amount of companion animals it has space for.  Please see our Foster Program for more information.

Fundraising-This type of volunteer effort can be done by a group or individual, once or on an ongoing basis. It allows for creativity in designing a fundraising event, as well as some fun with the social aspect of it. Our fundraising department is always looking for new members with fresh ideas, good contacts (big or small), or enthusiasm.

  • Rummage sales
  • Run a game at our fundraiser events

Adoption Events-BARK holds animal adoptions the first Saturday of the month.  This event is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Helping out at these adoption events can include setup, clean up, soliciting donations, care and handling of the animals, adoption counseling and more.  Sit one Saturday a month (with another volunteer) at our Info Booth.  Click here for event info Event Info

Home visit team-Our Home Visit teams do exactly that – they physically visit the home of the individual or family before the adoption process is completed. This ensures that the home is a safe, stable and loving environment, and that their new pet will be accepted as a permanent family member. BARK provides each Home Visit team with a training session and a Home Visit checklist in preparation for this critical volunteer task. Animals from BARK are often amazing escape artists. Volunteers can help point out escape routes and possible safety issues to potential adopters.

Follow-up phone calls-Once the adoption process has been approved, BARK will do a follow-up phone call within 7 to 14 days of the placement – just to see how things are going, whether the pet and/or the family are adjusting well, answer questions, etc.

Sponsorship-Many people have the desire to help our dogs, but they often have as many pets as their homes can support. Sponsoring an animal by making a tax deductible donation helps defray the cost of spaying/neutering, shots, heartworm and flea prevention, and toys. If you wish, you may sponsor an animal until a permanent home is found for it.

Develop Promotional/Adoption Materials for Distribution-We are constantly striving to make surrounding communities aware of the many wonderful animals we have available for adoption. We keep several adoption photo books and bulletin boards on display at a local area vets and doggie daycares. We are looking for folks to create, distribute and maintain future adoption albums. We are also recruiting volunteers to post Adoption flyers and keep them current.  Promoting Fundraisers.

Websites-We maintain a list, complete with descriptions and photos, of our adoptable pets, very easy point, click and copy, may take 1 hour a month.

Foster Home Scout-Find new foster homes in the metro area.

Volunteer Team-Call back new volunteers that have filled out volunteer apps and help them find a niche.

Professional Photographer-Take pictures of our foster animals.
